Any advice/help would be appreciated, including identification of which file causes the time limit message above to appear after 30 minutes.įortunately the original Airplanes and other SimObjects subfolders remain listed and populated but the question is what initiated this change? I can only have been the Steam SE Installer and if it made changes to the FSX installation then there's every likelhood that Registry entries/values were changed too, pushing it back to Demo Mode. I promise I won't go near either of them again. Just in finishing, I have uninstalled both FSX SE and the Steam app yet the time limit and message persist. If this is a programming error in the FSX SE release then someone's head should roll over it. To say I'm far from impressed over this is to grossly understate my reaction. As a retired programmer of many years I would be aghast if the SE install has in any way altered the FSX files but there is no doubt something has nobbled FSX, preventing me from enjoying to the full my Simulator of choice. The fact that it has coincided with the SE install leads me to believe that the Steam install executable has either overwritten a dll or other system file or even worse, changed the Registry values for FSX. It has run over several years with very good stability but my hope was that SE would allow me to push the limits of the various settings and on Tuesday last I bought and installed Dovetail Games FSX Steam Edition (SE) from the Steam Shop.
